“Thank you once again to The Knowledge Trust for executing a highly successful campaign in a highly professional manner with constant interaction between all the various parties. Being our first digital campaign, the learning curve was steep; thanks to Jaryd who was constantly there to guide and assist.”

About Artisan

The Artisan Foundation was founded by the Artisan Training Institute in 2018. The purpose of the Foundation is to propel sustainable livelihoods for the youth.

ATF is forging a broad network of relationships in order to secure increased funding for quality vocational training for those trades where there is actual industry demand. The Foundation believes that people can win, not just survive. They connect the youth with gainful opportunities based on matching quality training with real-world needs, and giving them the skills that they need to build winning futures.

It’s parent organisation – ATI is the technical skills training provider in the Gauteng – Regional Centre of Expertise, officially recognized by the United Nations University. ATI believes that it is possible to do business while making the world a better place for all through engineering and are committed to better training, better skills, and better preparation for life both in the workplace and at home.

The Situation

At the time of the campaign, our goal was to give away 12 weeks worth of bursaries to qualified applicants through our #FundaFriday bursary campaign and this Red & Yellow campaign would be the very first of 12! In light of the new normal of remote learning and Red & Yellow also wanted to amplify the engagement with their online programme amongst the youth and generate leads for their future programmes.

Red & Yellow was already a cherished partner of ours due to the shared value of curiosity and the desire to develop young people, so it made sense to us that we partner with the organisation for the first bursary campaign.

Special Ingredient

At the time of the campaign, our goal was to give away 12 weeks worth of bursaries to qualified applicants through our #FundaFriday bursary campaign and this aligned with The Artisan Training Institute’s business objectives of making the world a better place through engineering and artisan craftsmanship.

ATI also wanted to showcase the newly-founded Artisan Foundation due to the severe shortage of tradespeople in South Africa. The Artisan Foundation also wanted to present this bursary and courses as a huge opportunity for a lucky member to get a free qualification AND work experience. Due to The Knowledge Trust’s matching values and community objectives, this partnership would be an education match made in Heaven!

The Results

The campaign for the 3-year Electrical Engineering degree valued at R80,000 resulted in 3,459 opportunity views, 1193 shortlisted candidates and 4 lives were changed!

The bursary recipient was Swazi Gumede and they were ecstatic to gain the opportunity from Artisan Foundation!
One of the winners of the Electrical short courses, Ntobeko Ngobane was ecstatic at receiving this life-changing opportunity. However, she did not have the resources she needed to be successful at her course. She was in need of a laptop to fulfil her studies with the online classes at ATI, The Knowledge Trust went as far as asking partners for donations to ensure that she had access to a laptop.
