One million South African’s are domestic workers (constituting around 8% of the country’s total workforce). Among the many skills required for domestic work, child minding is often the highest sought after by employees. Someone who knows how to work with children can often find better jobs and earn more money.
This course will help anyone in a child minding role with the basic principles of childcare. Topics included in the course are nutrition, sleep, hygiene, safety, health and social development for all children in the first 12 years of life. The course is highly focused on maintaining a great working relationship with the employer (who is also usually the parent or guardian). The content gives a balance between tried-and-tested principles and practical advice.
