About The Knowledge Trust

The Knowledge Trust is a social enterprise on a mission to make education and opportunities available to more people, more often. The Knowledge Trust leverages on an online trusted community with over 300 000 members between the ages of 18-40 with a household income of less than R20 000. The community receives earning and learning opportunities in collaboration with values-driven and vision-led partners who are passionate about empowering the youth. In the last 3 years, we’ve facilitated 7891 learning experiences, distributed 382 bursaries totalling R9.8m, and placed 514 young people in the workplace and 6600 into skills development programs and their impact continues to be furthered everyday.

The Situation

We believe that we have become experts in youth empowerment and finding the right people for the right opportunities so we decided to bet on ourselves when looking to add graduates to our team. In this, we also believe that training, mentoring and diversity has significant impact in one’s professional development. As a result, we launched a Graduate Program searching for one tech candidate, two candidates located outside of South Africa and one candidate living with a disability.

The Grad Program is structured as a 6 month career development journey where candidates are exposed to different departments to learn and assess their own strengths and interests. We believe that the best candidates are found in our very own community so we launched a campaign to find our newest family members!

Special Ingredient

The Knowledge Trust work culture rests on these five values – Truth-seeking, Accountability, Curiosity, Kindness and Growth-Mindset. The WhatsApp interview system was an integral tool to assessing whether our potential candidates possessed these values. The process was quick, painless and simple for both The Knowledge Trust team and the candidates.
