About Hellopeter

Hellopeter is a platform connecting South African consumers and businesses. Hello Peter allows consumers to share their experiences (whether good or bad) – through reviews, read about other people’s experiences, and hopefully, discover some great South African businesses along the way.

Reviews are an effective way for businesses to gain credibility for their products and services. They are also able to find out the brand perceptions held by consumers. Reviews can be a source of feedback for small businesses who cannot afford specialised consultants or research surveys to help them grow and improve their business functions. 

Hellopeter is an organisation that is focused on enabling small businesses to grow and attracting team members who share this passion.

The Situation

Hellopeter wanted to be able to build a healthy and strong pipeline of small business clients that are interested in their services and building healthy partnerships with them. To do this, they were looking for a very goal-oriented, confident and friendly sales representative that is ambitious and passionate about South African businesses. 

Hellopeter wanted to find this rockstar through a trusted community like ours where they can have assurance of the quality of candidates afforded by our WhatsApp application system.

Special Ingredient

Our WhatsApp application system for the Hellopeter Sales Representative position allowed members to apply, send documents and take interviews through WhatsApp. This afforded Hellopeter an opportunity to receive a more accurate and complete picture of the different candidates outside of their documents. 

This meant that Hellopeter was able to build empathetic relationships with their candidates resulting in them offering interview tips for promising candidates. This was communicated through our campaign manager that Hellopeter truly believed that their next team member would come from our community. As a result, Hellopeter was motivated to encourage them through the interview process and ensure that they were successful.

The Task

The candidate brief was as follows: 
  • Number of candidates: 1
  • Location: Anywhere in South Africa
  • Qualification: At least a matric
  • Screening criteria: Sales experience (Digital or in-person) and Digital Marketing including Tech-savvy
  • Age: Under 30 years of age
  • Ethnicity: All races
  • Employment status: Currently unemployed and not studying
  • Growth mindset: At least 80%
  • Added Benefits: Laptop, VOIP phone + base. This also comes with an app for the mobile phone – so can make calls and answer calls from your cell phone and Wibox (to ensure wifi power when load shedding)
  • Professional Communication: 80%
  • Available for interviews: Within 4 weeks
  • Available to start: 28 June 2021
  • Stipend: R15000 – R25000 plus commission

The Action

The Knowledge Trust community had grown to almost 329 000 members who were fully engaged with our platform and relieved to be able to complete applications through WhatsApp. The campaign strategy to find a suitable candidate was as follows:

  1. Access the existing community via the weekly Saturday newsletter which our members interact with regularly, as well as social media.
  2. WhatsApp applications and interviews
  3. Send targeted emails to members that have applied for similar opportunities
  4. Utilize our Bounty Hunter Referral program.

The Results

The campaign for the Sales Representative resulted in 11,050 opportunity views, 3,024 qualified applications, 37 shortlisted candidates, 1,604 interviewed via WhatsApp and 1 life changed!
