About Tusanang

“Let’s Educate Together” – this organisation speaks for itself. As a trusted training provider, Tusanang Group is a proudly South African organisation, whose aim is to empower every citizen through opportunities that will not only help them grow in the workplace, but personally as well. Developed in 2003, Tusanang is passionate about making a difference in society, as well as the creative and innovative individuals who are a part of their organisation. This organisation strives to reinforce employment and workforce development across South Africa, and by partnering with organisations that have the same values – they believe that is when real change happens.

The Situation

Tusanang had an opportunity to change the lives of 6000 learners all across South Africa through a valuable 12 month skills development programme, known as the Career Launchpad Programme. This program was developed to equip learners with skills that would uplift them, both in the workplace and in their personal lives. The Career Launchpad Programme would give learners access to free skills development, through a year’s worth of free courses, as well as early access to any of Tusanang’s upcoming bursaries, and learnerships. All the candidates needed was a Grade 10 qualification. The program would be remote, however, there would be two compulsory on-site training days that candidates would have to attend for two modules: Personal values and Ethics at Work, and Managing Your Personal Finances.

The Knowledge Trust took to the task with much enthusiasm and vigor, and delivered the 6000 learners – after which Tusanang then requested an additional 1019 learners for the program. The challenge was, Tusanang couldn’t have candidates sign their documents online, and requested that The Knowledge Trust assist them with the completion of contracts, across 3 provinces – Western Cape, Eastern Cape and Gauteng – a task which The Knowledge Trust was more than willing to assist with to change lives, and help bridge the gap of unemployment which exists among the youth in South Africa.

Special Ingredient

When this campaign stated, The Knowledge Trust had just launched their WhatsApp bot – which meant that candidates could now apply for the Career Launchpad Programme through WhatsApp. Candidates applied on WhatsApp but were submitting their documents through Google Forms. This entire Whatsapp application process made the campaign so seamless because; the app is cost-effective, it is simple to use, and saved a lot of time. 80% of the applications went through Whatsapp and the process was incredibly beneficial for The Knowledge Trust as it allowed us to reach a lot of candidates, in a specific timeframe, allowing us to deliver to our clients exactly what they requested.

One more special ingredient has to be our Community Champions, during the contract signing process. The power of community is a notion that is very true for The Knowledge Trust. With a community of over 300 000 highly engaged members, we were able to find incredible, mission-aligned community champions to help us facilitate the contract-signing in the different provinces, to the best of our ability. We’ve got a long way to go, but each stride is made easier and more purposeful with our members by our side.
